I have always wanted to be a singer. I used to have these dreams that I was fantastic and would stand on stage and amaze everyone in the crowd. I am not a good singer and there is no threat of me ever standing on a stage where people would listen to me sing. If this did somehow happen, they certainly wouldn't enjoy it. But I got to thinking about singing the other day and I came up with a question: If I were a singer, what kind of music would I want to sing? A pop princess on MTV? An opera singer like I wanted to be when I was 5? Singing musicals on Broadway? Bluegrass so that I can go on A Praire Home Companion?
I decided on a kind of bluesy/jazzy vibe. I would get inspired by the greats and hang out listening to their records and then go to dimly lit jazz bars. My life would turn into soulful renditions that communicate as much through the music and tradition as the words.
So, my dear readers, what kind of singer would you be?
(Greg would infuse blues and hip hop like G Love)

I would do musical. The only people that like my singing is under8.
I would be like Shakira or Christina Agulaira (sp?)...not that i particularly love how/what they sing, only that they can both sing in Spanish.
I take the Patsy Cline sad, country "cry in your beer" songs. How fun to sing with a twang.
Loud, raw guitar. PJ Harvey or Karen O.
i would do covers of 80s rock ballads. sticking to things like my karaoke favorite: 'take it on the run' REO.
(greg might like Citizen Cope)
