a brief british translation guide

You know what is frustrating? Having about 10 blog ideas written down on a piece of paper and then LOSING THE PIECE OF PAPER. I did, however, find a piece of paper from El Copetin (the mojito bar on Paseo del Born) with a British translation guide that Carly gave me. Because I am a nice person, I'll share it with you.

In order from bad to good:
rubbish
acceptable
relatively pleasant
palatable
quite refreshing
pleasant
pukka (wtf?)
quite delightful
delightful
crackin'
ace
top (only to be used in Manchester)

You can print it out and keep it in your pocket. Good luck.

my fave british slang is "naff" which means "ugly" or "low class" or "ewwww". also i love using "bloody" and "lovely" which my english cousins use incessantly.

when i went to paris, i went to a bunch of english movies w/ french subtitles just for the fun of seeing how they were translating. and once they used the french word "con" which is really just slang for man / guy / etc. with a sort of negative connotation. but in the British/French dictionary the definition was "bloody stupid bastard." :) now it's my favorite word!!
